Request a Reader

GUIDELINES TO REQUEST A HERMA'S READERS REPRESENTATIVE IN YOUR SCHOOL

Herma's Readers is a collaborative effort designed to support "The Power of Reading" throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. The primary goal of Herma's Readers is to actively encourage and promote literacy in elementary school children in grades K-3.

Herma's Readers wants to come to your elementary school! Elementary schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia may participate by having a school representative (i.e., reading specialist, teacher, administrator) submit a one-page letter from a current student, describing why their school should be selected to receive a Herma's Reader's representative visit their school.

Please submit your letter by filling out the contact form, or by U.S. Postal Service mail to the following address: Herma's Readers, 250 Jamerson Center, Blacksburg, Virginia, 24061.

Winning schools are selected based on the ingenuity and creativity used in describing how their school encourages, inspires, and supports all students in their literacy growth and development.

If selected, a school representative will be notified, and the date and time to have a Herma's Readers inspirational guest speaker personally visit your school, will be scheduled.
